Mobile payments company Fortumo adds Unity Support for Windows Phone & Windows 8

Few days back we talked about the importance of carrier billing support for mobile payments in emerging markets for app developers. This was outlined in the Infographics showing countries where Windows Phone outsells iPhone.

We also highlighted how Microsoft already has a great support for carrier billing in Windows Phone as it currently covers 36 countries with 59 operators and with payment partners like Fortumo that reach grows upto 81 countries & 250 mobile operators.

Fortumo has now launched a custom version of their Windows in-app purchasing SDK for developers using Unity to build their apps. Developers can now start accepting mobile payments with Carrier billing in their Unity apps by signing up with Fortumo and integrating their Windows billing library for Unity.

Fortumo promises to pay upto $25,000 upfront to developers who choose to integrate Fortumo mobile payments in their Windows Phone and Windows 8 apps. Even if you don’t have an existing Windows Phone and Windows 8 app, but already have a successful app on android or iOS that you are willing to port, you can en-cash upto $25,000 based on your current app downloads.

While you are at it and doing porting your Unity based games for Windows Phone and Windows 8, don’t forget to also checkout the Microsoft incentive program for Unity Developers which provides many benefits like free Dev Center account , free Windows 8 Pro license, developer device and much more.
